Reselling imported items from Asia

For the past few days I have been looking into the methods of buying in bulk from China and reselling those items for profit over eBay, Amazon etc.

    What I know so far:
    1) It's quite hard to find truly trusted sellers.
    2) After receiving your batch of items, you need to somehow personalize them in order to sell them for profit.
    3) The potential to make a shitload of money is definitely there, since...
    4) ... this isn't saturated, because very few people actually pull this through.

My question now is, does anyone have experience with this? Importing goods from Asia and reselling them online, especially after personalizing them/giving them some sort of personal branding!
Do you have any go-to destinations in terms of companies that brand products in bulk? Any tips and tricks to get started? What are the best ways to market those products in the end?

I'm not expecting a lot/any answers, since most people probably earn money with easier methods, but I guess it's worth a try. Thanks in advance.

I am currently setting up a dropshipping website and trying to resell with profit. I studied economics too so that comes in handy in terms of keeping track of stock, bookkeeping, marketing and all that.

It's hard to setup, yes, but there are so many companies that just resell stuff from china. Companies like Apple even just resell stuff that is made in China.

You just need to put a lot of time and effort in it. That's the only way you could make profit out of anything (or you can hack a bank but I don't recommend that).

First of all thanks for your reply and input. This is not exactly what I had in mind, but it's still sparked my curiosity as this 'method' does not the personalization and branding I mentioned.
Can you elaborate a bit more on how this system of yours exactly works? Key elements I'm interested in are the setup of the website (roughly), your investment (website construction, buying products [?], marketing) and the logistics behind all this.

What I mean by that is, do you have some sort of warehouse with stored products that get sent out or do you literally just play some sort of secret middle man that resells stuff for higher prices without customers knowing?
Please don't understand those questions as me criticizing/judging you in any shape of form, I'm actually really interested in this. Thanks in advance.

Not too much experience, but I have a little. I can say that if you have ever heard of Blu (the phone company not the e-cigarette brand), they are just a Chinese re-seller company that provides warranty and a brand name to stand behind for generic chinese phones. I tried it and was actually selling a good bit of Chinese phones at a store down the road then Blu came around to them, and I just said take it, it was a pain for me and didn't have time to deal with it anyways.

It works, its not that hard, just takes a good bit of time to manage.
A lot of sellers on DHGate are quality, even though they tend to be less bulk.
